A chip that has started to run is not something to keep driving around with, and it is the job most tint shops send down the road. We do it here. Glass out, glass in, and the film that was on it goes back on the new one.
The bay is in Odessa, and we take work from Odessa,
Midland and across the Permian Basin. Cracked or starred glass replaced here, and any film that was on it put back on the new glass.

One shop, one visit
The normal version of this goes: the glass shop replaces the windshield, and then you drive somewhere else to have the brow strip or the clear film put back. A second appointment, a second day off, and two businesses each pointing at the other if something is not right.
Because we do both, the vehicle leaves finished. New glass, film reapplied, one invoice, one shop that owns the result.

Chip or crack: send us a photo first
Not every damaged windshield needs replacing, and we would rather tell you that over the phone than after you have driven across town. A small, fresh star that has not reached the edge of the glass and is not in the driver's line of sight is a different conversation from a crack that has already run.
Text or bring us a photo of the damage with something for scale and we will tell you which one you have. What makes the decision urgent is that heat runs cracks: a Permian Basin afternoon and a cold A/C blast across the inside of the glass is exactly the stress that turns a chip into a foot of crack while you are driving.
03 / 03
The film goes back the way it came off
Windshield film is its own job. A brow strip across the top has to be cut and laid to the curve of the glass, and a full clear ceramic film like Autobahn's Air Ceramic 80 covers the whole windshield without darkening it, which is the version most people here end up wanting once they understand that heat rejection and darkness are two different things.
If your old windshield carried either one, it goes back on the new glass. If it did not, this is the cheapest moment in the vehicle's life to add it, because the glass is already out and clean.
Can my windshield be repaired instead of replaced?
Sometimes. It depends on the size of the damage, how far it has spread, how close it is to the edge of the glass, and whether it sits in the driver's line of sight. Send us a photo and we will tell you straight rather than quoting a replacement by default.
How long does a windshield replacement take?
The glass itself is a few hours including the cure time the adhesive needs before the vehicle is safe to drive. If film is going back on, that is added to the same visit. We will give you the window when we quote it.
Does my window tint or brow strip get put back on?
Yes, that is the reason to have the glass done at a tint shop. Whatever the old windshield carried goes back on the new one, cut and laid by hand here rather than sent out.
The crack is spreading. How urgent is it?
More urgent in summer than you would think. Heat is what runs a crack, and the temperature swing between a windshield sitting in the Odessa sun and the A/C hitting the inside of it is exactly the stress that spreads one. A chip caught early is a much smaller conversation.
